Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood

Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. Under the theme “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood,” the 2022–2026 administration builds upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s rich legacy of service by galvanizing a sisterhood of more than 120,000 active members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy.

The administration’s program consists of six initiatives. Strengthen Our Sisterhood serves as the Foundation Initiative, focused on strengthening the bonds of sisterhood and supporting the Sorority’s enduring commitment to service.

The remaining five initiatives serve as the Program Initiatives:

Advocate for Social Justice
Uplift Our Local Community

Together, these initiatives are designed to improve the lives of those we serve. Through collaboration and collective action, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members will maximize their outreach on progressive endeavors while consistently developing and empowering leaders who advance our enduring commitment to service.

Chapter Signature Programs

Black College Bus Tour

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have played a vital role in providing higher education opportunities for African Americans and continue to serve as important institutions of learning, leadership, and cultural enrichment.

Each March, the Omicron Eta Omega Chapter sponsors a week-long HBCU bus tour for high school students in grades 9–12. The experience provides students with firsthand exposure to college life through campus tours, meetings with academic advisors, and conversations with current college students.

In addition to visiting HBCU campuses, students enjoy sightseeing and opportunities for shopping, creating an educational and memorable experience that inspires them to explore their college and career possibilities.

Little Miss Fashionetta®

Little Miss Fashionetta® is a six-month experience designed for girls ages 9–12. The program focuses on character building, community service, goal setting, and leadership development, providing participants with opportunities to grow personally and make a positive impact in their communities.

The experience culminates in a formal pageant where participants showcase their talents, receive recognition and awards, and are presented to the community in beautiful cotillion attire.

Proceeds from the pageant are reinvested in the community through philanthropic contributions and scholarships, extending the program’s impact beyond its participants.

Girls Experiencing More Success (G.E.M.S.)

Girls Experiencing More Success (G.E.M.S.) is a year-long mentoring program for young girls conducted in partnership with a local school district.

Led by members of the Omicron Eta Omega Chapter, G.E.M.S. provides a supportive environment where participants engage in meaningful discussions and activities focused on personal growth and development.

Topics include:

Navigating social media
Self-image and self-esteem
Goal setting
Healthy relationships

Through mentorship, guidance, and meaningful connections, G.E.M.S. empowers young girls with the confidence and tools they need to pursue success.
